In What next?- you decide, you tell us what is going to happen next. Here's
how the story starts.
Jennifer looked out the window.
There was a small bird out on the porch. It was sitting on the seed ball they
had hung up. Well, twirling was perhaps the right word. Every time the bird
pecked, the ball twirled.
That was the only movement outside. It wasn't much of a start to winter break.
Most of her classmates and friends were off somewhere. Jennifer's family weren't
going to go anywhere. Both of her parents had to work. Right then Jennifer
felt about as gray inside as the sky was outside.
"What a way to spend a vacation", Jennifer thought. She looked out
the window. The seed ball wasn't swinging anymore. The bird was still there.
Not pecking at the food though. It was looking in the window at Jennifer.
"No" thought Jennifer "it seems to be looking at me. Birds
don't look at people." Just then the telephone rang.

What do you think happens next? Is the bird really looking at Jennifer? Who's on the phone? Is winter break not going to be so boring after all? You tell us or send in even the next excerpt.
