2 That evening Jannet Manners sat at her kitchen table. It was a beautiful kitchen. Like a kitchen from a magazine. Nothing out of place. She sat holding a tea cup. The telephone was just in front of her on the table. She watched the telephone. It rang once. Jannet smiled. It rang again. On the third ring she answered. "Oh hello" she said "oh, no your not interrupting, I was just upstairs packaging packages for the Childrens' Relief Fund. Sorry just give me a second, I ran to get the phone. I'm a bit out of breath". She put her hand over the mouth piece and smiled. She continued, "I am glad you called I was going to call you after I finished packing these boxes." She listened to the woman on the other end of the line. "Oh, did he say that? Oh, I should have called you sooner, but I didn't think it was urgent. I'm very worried about Ethan. He said I screamed at him? Oh, I would never do that. I think we need to speak with a professional. He said that I said that. Oh this is worse than I feared. I don't think we should wait. Let me check my diary." Jannet held the phone reciever away from her head. She waited a minute, then spoke again." I see that I have Thursday at 3:00 free". Jannet listened . "Oh, it's difficult for you? Well you must try to change it. It's very important for Ethane. Yes, ah, ha. Yes now don't worry. I wont let you go through this by yourself. I am there for you and Ethan." Jannet hung up the phone and smiled. She went into the living room, to a desk against the wall and took out a large black book. She opened it and wrote into it. After putting the book back into the drawer, Jannet Manners turned smiling and speaking out loud, for no ones' benefit but her own, she said, "I just love this job". To Be continued |
